The Wessex Ducks is a local 2CV club affiliated to the UK national club, 2CVGB. Our aim is to provide both a social club and, when required, a source of technical assistance for owners of ‘A’ series Citroëns in our area.
We cover the area of east Dorset and west Hampshire, meeting on the first Thursday of each month at the Sir Walter Tyrrell, near Cadnam. The pub is reached from the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between Stoney Cross and Cadnam, following the signpost to Rufus Stone. Coming from the Southampton direction, go under the motorway at Cadnam to join the B3078 through Brook and then left to the pub (see the map below).
Please take a few minutes to browse round this site where you will see some of our members’ cars, some of the events we have attended in the past and a Diary of future events. There are also pages of technical help which may just solve a problem which you've had with your 2CV. There is a facility to contact us by e-mail. We welcome feedback about our site.
We publish a monthly newsletter, Quack!, for which there is an annual fee of £6 but there are no fees for our meetings so if you already own a 2CV, or are thinking of getting one, please come along and meet us.
The club was formed in 1985 by a group of local 2CV owners and originally met at the Inn on the Furlong in Ringwood. The venue for the meetings later changed to the Crown (Fordingbridge), the Elm Tree (Ringwood), the Tyrrells Ford (Avon) and now the Sir Walter Tyrrell in Brook.
At its peak the circulation of Quack!, our newsletter, rose to more than 120 copies each month and attendance at our meetings was often in excess of 25 cars. We have organised trips to local places of motoring interest such as the Haynes Museum and Beaulieu as well as treasure hunts and duck races in the New Forest. Once we auctioned an entire car, piece by piece, for charity. Recently numbers have fallen as has the number of 2CVs still on the road but we still have a hard core of enthusiasts who enjoy taking their cars to events organised for 2CVs throughout the UK and Europe as well as local classic car events for all makes of car.
Each August bank holiday there is a "2CV National Meeting" held in the UK and hosted by one or more of the local clubs affiliated to 2CVGB. In 2010 the event will be held near Winchester. In alternate years there is a 2CV World Meeting. In 2009 the World Meeting was in the Czech Republic. There are pictures taken by our members at the 2009 National and World Meetings in the 'Events Gallery' and pictures of the cars currently owned by our members are in the 'Club Cars' gallery.
